From “Women in Green”

Dear Friends,

Let the quiet not fool you. The corrupt and morally bankrupt Olmert-Livni government is having daily talks with the Arab enemy, desperately trying to come to some kind of agreement in which they will, G-d forbid, agree to give away to the Arabs large parts of our Homeland.

Those are dangerous times for the People of Israel in the Land of Israel. We must make sure not to fool ourselves again by saying “nothing will come out of it”. Unfortunately the criminal Oslo agreements and Disengagement (Expulsion) plans became very real, even though, at the beginning, we thought nothing of the sort could happen.

We cannot sit by and wait. Now is the time to make a geshrei. Now is the time to make clear to all that we oppose the creation of a Palestinian State in any part of Israel’s biblical homeland. Now is the time to scream out loud: “The Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel.”

What is more worrisome than the quiet of the government, is the quiet in the national camp. How come we do not hear the Rabbis, the politicians, the public figures, organizing and screaming against the secret talks that are taking place? Do we have to wait till they officially declare the creation of a PLO State to wake up and act?

What about the fact that tens of thousands of dunams of Israeli State land are being stolen away from us on a daily basis by Arabs, in Judea and Samaria and even in Jerusalem and this in order to facilitate the creation of a PLO State? Little by little Arabs are taking over so much land, illegally building tens of thousands of houses and agricultural farms, that soon the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria will turn into ghetto-like enclaves in a sea of hostile Arabs.

Shouldn’t all heads of Yeshivot, ulpanot and high schools stop their daily routine of learning Torah in their nice air-conditioned buildings and instead, continue the learning but, instead, at this crucial time of Eretz Yisrael emergency, bring their students on to the hills and thus implement what the Torah orders us’ i.e. actually acting to conquer and keep our land?

The new trend in the national religious camp is to focus more on “chesed” projects or on “teshuva” projects and less on the struggle for the land of Israel. This in our eyes is a tremendous mistake. Chesed and teshuva are of course very important but when there is a fire in a building, one must first act to extinguish the fire and thus save the building from collapsing so that the furniture and other important items in the building will be saved. At this time, when our internal and external enemies are working night and day to take away our Land from us, in order to crush us and destroy the Jewish State of Israel; all efforts must be turned towards the struggle to save the land of Israel and to prevent the creation of a PLO State.

You might say: but we have done that in the past! We have demonstrated. We have screamed. And despite all that we have done, Gush Katif and Northern Shomron have been destroyed; so why shall we do all this again? Our answer is simple: if Gush Katif and Northern Shomron have been destroyed then we have not done enough. This time we must understand that civil disobedience and refusal of orders must be part of our arsenal. In addition, in the pre-expulsion days, we thought our national leadership was on our side. Only after Kfar Maimon did we realize that our own Yesha leadership and many Rabbis were collaborating with the authorities. In one word, the situation today is different than before. We are less naive and much more determined to not only protest but, if need be, to also really put up a struggle.

There are many ways to act. First and foremost we must bypass the anti-zionist leftist media and rekindle patriotism into the hearts of the Israeli population. The word “Eretz Yisrael” has literally been erased from the Israeli media and secular education system. Let alone the message that this Land belongs to the Jewish People and to the Jewish People only.

The slogan “The Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel” has been Women in Green’s slogan since its founding in 1993, written on banners and stickers. Women in Green have decided that the time has come to go back to the streets with exactly that simple message. (see below for details). We call upon all of you to order banners and stickers and organize vigils in your areas too. We must recreate an ambiance in the streets of Jewish pride in our Homeland. Imagine that all around the country there will be daily vigils with signs saying: “This is our Land” and people will hoot in agreement. We must show that we proudly and loudly declare: “The land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel” with the clear message to all politicians: nobody has the right to give any part of it away. Not Olmert. Not Livni. Not Barak. And not Bibi.

Obviously, signs and vigils are not enough. Simultaneously the struggle on the hills of Judea and Samaria and the strengthening and expansion of those hills must increase and continue. Below you will find a list of activities to help the communities.

Women in Green doesn’t have large funds. Unlike the leftist organizations like “Peace Now’ who are funded by European countries, we have only you, our loyal friends to count on, but we believe we can do this. We are not going to have large ads in newspapers. That costs too much. We are not hiring famous PR firms either. We are turning to each and one of you, fellow Jews. We are sure you are willing to give a few hours a week for the struggle for the land of Israel. Some can help by personally participating in struggles and activities.

Others can help by sending in donations. As long as we all understand that none of us has the luxury to stay home and kvetch! (complain)

Speak to your children, grandchildren, friends and relatives, in Israel and abroad and ask them: What have you done today to save the land of Israel?

Below, please find a list of Upcoming Activities. Mark your calendar and join us!
